Application Setup

In order for Sage Data Exchange to work it needs to know where the Sage 100 data files are located. This panel is where the path to Sage 100 exists. To access the Application Setup go to Application | Setup | Application Setup. The path to Sage 100 is required before Sage Data Exchange will work with Sage 100.

The cancel button will not save any changes and will close the Application Setup screen.

The Save button which will save the changes and will close the Application Setup screen.

There are three buttons on the User Maintenance Screen. One is the Print button that will print a list of the setup information from the screen.

The next button is to install the PVX Plus web service. When this button is clicked, the system will test to see if the web service has been installed. If the service has not been installed, it will prompt to install the service. By clicking on Yes, it will install it as a service and return to the Application Setup screen. Answering No will not do anything and go back to the Application Setup screen. When the application is installed as a service, it means it will run in the background. If the server is ever restarted, the application will be started when the system is back online. Otherwise, a user must log in and keep the application running to have access to Sage Data Exchange.

When the Install PVX Plus web service button is clicked and an install is found, it will prompt to remove it. When Yes is clicked, the system will remove the service and return to the Application Setup screen. Answering No will not do anything and go back to the Application Setup screen.

The last button is to Purge Data transfer. This will clear the table used to sync the data to Sage 100.

When clicked it will prompt to “Clear the Data Transfer table?” When YES is chosen it will clear the table and allow it to recreate the table with current values. This would be done if the path, user or default company is changed and unexpected results are returned. Clicking No will return to the Application Setup screen.

The following are the fields available on the Application Setup Screen.

Sage 100 ERP Path

Enter here the path to the Sage 100 system. It can be UNC or use a drive letter. Click on the browse (folder icon) button to navigate to the folder and click OK when done or enter the path manually.

Sage User

Enter the Sage user login that will be used to communicate to Sage 100. This user will need to have permissions in Sage 100 for the functions that will be used by Sage Data Exchange. Use Role Maintenance in Sage 100 to set the appropriate permissions.


Enter the password for the Sage User that is indicated. If the Sage User and Password is correct, the system will display a check box to the right. Otherwise, if the user and password is incorrect, path to Sage 100 is incorrect, or the permissions to Sage 100 are wrong, a warning icon will display.

Default Sage Company

It is not required to pass the Sage 100 Company Code to Sage Data Exchange because it will default to a preset Company Code. This field tells Sage Data Exchange what the default Sage Company is to be used when it is not provided.

Return Lower Case Column Names

By default, Sage Data Exchange will return the column names exactly as they are listed in the ProvideX Data Dictionary. Check this box to have the system return all the column names as lowercase.

Purchase Control Enabled

When checked, the system will use the Purchase Control Maintenance program in Sales Order in Sage 100. This will limit the inventory items that a Customer can purchase based on the Customer Number or the Ship-To State and can exclude items or include them. User Login returns Contact Data

When the User Resource Login Method is used and this is checked, the Contact Resource Data will be returned. This will happen whether linked to a Customer or Vendor.

User GET returns Contact Data

When checked, the User Resource GET Method is expanded to include the Contact Resource Data, whether linked to a Customer or Vendor.
